5 Beauty Tips I Swear By

5 Beauty Tips I Swear By asian korean kbeauty tricks secret

Hello all~!

It has been a very much busy semester for me in college, I can't find the motivation to blog much! However my Instagram is very much more active as I've started to take an interest in snapping photos of beauty products!

Anyways, for today's post I will be sharing 5 beauty tips I swear by. There are always so many tips and tricks to the perfect, beautiful face all around the internet but seriously, are all those tips really necessary? Some are amazing and simple, I've learnt quite from them but some are just too complex and being a lazy person- like me, I tend to ignore them.

These 5 beauty tips that I'll be sharing are very simple and it's perfect for lazy people like me- or even those that are taking their first step into the world of beauty! They are simple, cheap and does not take too much of your time.

Let's get started!

1. Double cleansing

Wait, what-? Girl, are you crazy? No. For a bright and glowing face, it all starts from your skin care. No amount of makeup or cosmetic can help to achieve a naturally clean and glowy look on your face. Cleansing is the most important part of your skin care. The dirt and sebum has been on your face for an entire day and you must wash those off.

I always start by cleaning off my mascara and lip tint using oil cleansers. Get those stubborn things off! Oil cleansers are great but remember that they could be pore clogging hence I don't use them on my entire face.

The next step is to use a cream cleanser on my entire face. Cream cleansers are basically less oily than oil cleansers but they remove makeup really well.

Lastly, I use a foam cleanser on my entire face. The foam cleanser helps to cleanse my pores and wash off  the excess oil or sebum that's still on my face.

Yes, it may take some time especially when you're dead tired from a day out but your skin will thank you for that extra cleansing you did.

2. Two-step skincare

Have you ever experience days where you're just too lazy to go on a full 7-step or 10-step skincare routine? I've been diligently doing my two-step skincare every day and they prove the same results to me as a 7 or 10-step skin care. So, what's in a two-step skincare routine?

Toner and moisturizer. Always apply your toner and moisturizer after you wash your face. I do it two times a day.

3. Apply Aloe Vera gel on pimples or acne

If you're not a person who has pimple/acne problems but once in a while you get a huge red zit on your face, use Aloe Vera gel! Aloe Vera gel has many benefits and I use them on my pimples (when I have them)

They are not harsh on the skin and helps to reduce the redness and get rid of the pimple.

4. Avoid instant noodles a night before your big day!

If you have a date or some special occasion tomorrow, avoid instant noodles the day or two before! As instant noodles are high in sodium, eating these food the night before can make your face and eyes look bloated the next day.

Honestly, I am a person who LOVES instant noodles and I didn't believe in this nonsense one bit until the day I found out that, it actually is true! I had a date the next day and my entire face looked bloated that no amount of makeup or magic can get rid of it immediately.

5. When in doubt, go red.

Red is a very classic color and it will almost never go wrong. When you have your eye makeup done but you're unsure what color to suit your lips, go for shades of red. A nice red lip complements any makeup or color you have on your face. If you're a pale person, a tinge of red on your lips will make you look healthier however if you're a much tanner person, some colors may not look that great on your lips so go for red!

I always have red lip tints with me. I can have any kind of makeup look or color on my face but my lips are always shades of red.

Here are the 5 beauty tips I swear by.

Do you have any beauty tips you'd love to share? What are they?

Sponsored Review: [JOLSE] Hope Girl Jamong Cleansing Balm

Hello all~ It's been a while hasn't it?

Today's post will be another review and this time it's generously sponsored by Jolse. I have to say that I was extremely excited to review this product as I have actually never used anything like this before!

Hope Girl's Jamong Cleansing Balm!

All my life I've never bothered to try out a cleansing balm as I have been more confident in relying on my cleansing creams instead. I believe that cleansing creams are less oily and harsh on my face but after seeing this product, I was convinced to give this a try- something new!

Hope Girl Jamong Cleansing Balm review kbeauty korean beauty

The Hope Girl Jamong Cleansing Balm is a sherbet cleansing balm and claims to:

  1. Have a refreshing feeling
  2. Gently removes the makeup
  3. Have a grapefruit scent
  4. Not dry the skin

The product arrived to me in a nice box packaging. Jamong (자몽) basically means grapefruit in Korean so you can expect the box to be pink and orange with a very fruity feeling.

When I opened the box, I can basically smell the citrus scent coming from that product! The product comes in a small round jar and of course, the lid looks like a sliced grapefruit too! +1 for that!

It comes with a spatula as well for easy scooping and keeping the product hygienic.

The product has a plastic internal cap for hygiene purposes as well as keeping any water from entering the jar.

Texture of the product resembles shaved ice or sherbet when scooped from the jar. The scent is amazing. It almost reminded me of a scented candle. I really liked it!

It melts almost immediately when applied onto the skin and it feels really smooth. The consistency is rather oily but it feels light on my skin. Like how some oil cleansers feel slightly heavy and thick, this product feel very thin!

Let's see how well it can remove makeup.

I have no idea what magic this is but it removed the makeup really gently and easily! The lip tint was removed cleanly- almost without any effort in rubbing it. My skin smells amazing after washing it off and to my surprise, it wasn't as oily as I thought it would be! Even my current cleansing cream felt oilier than this product.

The Hope Girl Jamong Cleansing Balm washes off very easily as well without feeling oily. Sometimes, double cleansing is not even needed!

Skin type:
All skin types. It worked amazingly on my dehydrated-oily skin.

Grapefruit. It has the smell of  a freshly sliced citrus fruit.

Really cute with a summery or fruity vibe. Has a screw lid and plastic internal cap to keep the product clean. Comes with a spatula.

  • Feels light on the skin
  • Removes makeup really easily
  • Smells amazing
  • Skin feels fresh after using
  • Not very oily

  • -
I will!

The verdict:
There is no harsh rubbing needed to remove your makeup. Just very gently with your finger tips would remove most of your makeup however it takes a bit more effort on the mascara-coated lashes. After washing it off, my skin smells amazing and feels soft and fresh! Among the other makeup removers I've tried, this is by far the best. I love it! Definitely sticking to this product from now on!

Sponsored Review: Beauty Friends II Cucumber Essence Mask Sheet

Hello all~

Skin18 has been nice enough to send me a mask sheet for a review. I haven't done any mask sheet reviews and the first one goes to them! The mask sheet they sent me was from Beauty Friends II. Cucumber Essence Mask Sheet Pack.

It arrived to me packed very cutely in gift paper along with a 'thank you' card!

Note that they have this tiny warning to remind you of the product expiry date.

Unfortunately my mask sheet was very very near the expiration date, about 10 days from it? But that wasn't a huge problem as I used it immediately a few days after receiving it.

Let's open and take a look inside!

The moment I opened the packet, it smelled so much like fresh cucumbers. I couldn't hate the smell! In fact it is very very refreshing. The mask sheet was soaked with essence so much that it dripped off my hands! And there are still excess in the packet to apply anywhere else!

However the mask sheet itself was rather thick and had a very large fit. But after putting it on my face, it felt really nice and cooling especially around the cheeks and forehead.

Wiping the excess on the neck

I notice that the mask sheet dries up within 15 minutes. It's not recommended for us to apply the mask sheet for more than 20 minutes but my usual mask sheets are still wet when I peel them off. The essence on my face dries up in about 5 minutes! I actually loved it. I dislike having so much essence on my face that it felt sticky but this one absorbs really well into my skin.

I love how it leaves a tight and refreshing feeling on my skin. Honestly I think I would prefer this over any other mask sheets I've used.

Skin type:
All skin types

When to use:
I usually do my mask sheets at night. Toner - Mask Sheet - Eye Cream - Moisturizer.

It smells like freshly sliced cucumbers

  • Non-sticky
  • Lots of essence packed in the mask sheet
  • Absorbs fast after peeling off the mask sheet
  • Skin feels tighter and smoother

  • Thick mask sheet

The verdict:
Absolutely loved it! It absorbs really quickly and leaves no sticky residue which I personally prefer it to be that way. In this case, I can go to bed without my skin feeling sticky and worry about it getting onto my pillows.

Makeup Tutorial: IU Palette

Hey guys!

Makeup Tutorial IU Palette korean asian kpop

So, I was watching IU's Palette music video a few weeks ago and when this one scene appeared, I immediately thought 'Ah, i have to try this makeup look'. IU has shown so many different makeup looks in her Palette music video but this one makeup look stands out the most to me. It was rare to see her in much darker makeup than her usual natural face.

My vanity tour

Hey loves!

My vanity tour table desk

As you all know, I love cosmetics and basically anything that has to do with k-beauty. Ever since I took my first step into the world of k-beauty, I have been actively buying and using a lot of beauty products- and as a beauty blogger, a vanity table is very much essential to me.

My vanity space has become such a warm and happy place that I actually enjoy cleaning up and just looking at it! Honestly, my entire room is pretty much a mess but my vanity table is always clean and pleasing to look at.

When I first started my vanity space makeover a few months back, I had a hard time deciding how I should do it. As I was looking around for inspiration, I grew envious of people having a proper vanity table with a comfortable chair, huge mirror and dressers to stash their beauty items.

My room is not very spacious or well-lit and I have a tight budget on what I can spend or can not spend on. However, I was able to create something I've never thought would be possible! It took me a few months to get everything I needed to create the lovely space I now call my vanity space.

And I think it's time to finally show my comfort space, my vanity table.

My vanity tour table desk

I actually sit on the floor when I'm doing my makeup. Somehow it felt more comfortable to me than sitting on a chair.

I have this little kitchen trolley on the side of my table, filled with my cosmetics. The idea of using a kitchen trolley came to me when I was sourcing for a cabinet to store my cosmetics but they were expensive and pretty impractical. So I went for the better and cheaper alternative, the kitchen trolley.

My vanity tour table desk

It has wheels on the bottom, I can pull it out when I need it somewhere else aside from my room. Also, my cosmetics are arranged according to their use. I dump my lippies together, eye shadows  and palettes in one and so on.

My entire vanity space didn't cost me more than RM200! It's way under the budget I've set.

It's a pretty neat little vanity space but of course, there are still so many ways to improve it! I'd love some carpet or rug under my vanity desk as my floors are too cold to sit on comfortably early in the mornings while I'm getting my face done.

Arhaus offers a wide variety of living and home furniture that has a rustic and calming feel to it. It would be amazing to add in a thing or two onto my vanity desk to complete the look and also make it much more comfortable than it already is.

Their MYKNES SHAG RUG would be a perfect addition to my space or an alternative to a rug would be a comfortable pouf for me to sit on when it get cold on the floor. Their ERICA OUTDOOR HAND WOVEN BOLD STRIPE POUF seems very comfortable and pretty as an addition too.

To bring my vanity space to live at night, a floor lamp would look good on the side of my desk. Their ETON FLOOR LAMP looks too beautiful and seem like it would complete my space.

Do you have your own little vanity space? Share it with me below!

Till then.
